Jane Odero Greene, a senior systems engineer at Raytheon, received the award for Most Promising Engineer at this year's Black Engineer of the Year Awards STEM Conference in Washington, D.C.

The military technology Jane Odero Greene works on is complex, but her motivation couldn't be simpler.

"These are products that lives could depend on," said Greene, who works on cybersecurity for a Navy radar defense system. "I'm building in protection that would prevent compromise of these systems."

Greene, a senior systems engineer in Raytheon's Integrated Defense Systems business, was named Most Promising Engineer at this year's Black Engineer of the Year Awards, taking the honor at this year's conference in Washington, D.C. She was among 11 Raytheon engineers recognized at the gala, and she said years of attending the event and forging friendships with other engineers sparked her ambition.

"When you select the right people to look up to and the right people to engage with, you pick up good behaviors, good habits," said Greene, who works on the Air and Missile Defense Radar, officially known as AN/SPY-6. "It definitely impacts how I do my job and what I aspire to do."

The other Raytheon employees honored at the conference received the BEYA Modern Day Technology Award, which recognizes efforts to shape the future of engineering, science and technology.
