TranSys Machine Translation
BBN’s Machine Translation platform enables users to automatically translate between English and foreign language text with state-of-the-art accuracy. The system comprises a machine translation engine with a flexible JSON translation API, and a user-friendly Web-based MT Application for interactive text and document translation. Our translation technology is built on statistical machine learning techniques, making it language-independent and configurable for any language pair. The machine translation engine provides the core translation functionality using advanced machine learning techniques, including deep neural networks, to provide robust translation of various types of data – formal as well as informal text. The engine is fast and reliable, with a track record of long-term operational deployment.

A user-friendly interface allows for interactive translation of user-input text and of documents and supports the translation of Microsoft Office documents while preserving the original formatting. It also includes a document management function.

Small Form Factor Machine Translation
Our conversational speech Machine Translation is designed to run on small footprint hardware such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops running Android or Windows. The translation models are on the order of 45,000 – 80,000 words per language, and are configured for specific domains. This language component supports translation in speech applications and is currently available for Iraqi Arabic, Pashto, Dari, and Western Hemisphere Spanish.

Optical Character Recognition
The Multilingual Document Analysis and Translation System converts foreign language content from scanned hard copy documents into English text, providing language-based indexing of multilingual document archives to end-user applications. The system is based on Raytheon BBN’s state-of-the-art independent document and analysis and language processing technologies. These technologies provide superior performance on real-world documents and allow the system to be configured quickly for new languages, unusual fonts or unique visual artifacts.
