Global Sensors

Raytheon UK's Global Sensors

Raytheon UK’s Global Sensors provide state of the art electronics, mission systems, and optical technologies. Across air, land, sea and space, our technology offer soldiers and commanders situational awareness, command and control, and precision targeting, enhancing their protection and increasing their performance.

Our Global Sensors consist of four different areas of advanced technology:

Air Traffic Management Systems (ATMS)

Advanced Navigation Solutions are comprised of two elements. The first is our world leading Air Traffic Management Systems (ATMS). Our proven, innovative technology for both civil and military radar application is used worldwide to enhance air traffic surveillance and safely direct the world’s air traffic.

We are the only British manufacturer of civil radars and we are a major supplier of Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR) systems. We also offer a wind farm mitigation solution that is able to eradicate the effect of wind turbines on air traffic control radar.

Assured Position Navigation and Timing (APNT)

The second element is Assured Position Navigation and Timing (APNT). We are a world leader in the development, production and supply of GPS anti-jamming systems to the majority of the world’s military forces, including the UK Ministry of Defence.

This allows the precise locations of military assets in real time. However, in battlefield and airborne operations, enemy countermeasures include the use of GPS denial effects to disrupt and jam GPS. Our anti-jamming products protect this weak point in modern infrastructure systems, enabling the continued use of GPS in battlefield settings.

Our integrated power solutions deliver performance in the air, on land and at sea, where high reliability, power density, size, weight and thermal control are essential.

We are also innovating in this space as the aerospace industry strives to improve fuel consumption with a concept known as More Electric Aircraft (MEA); our power solutions have risen to the challenge by increasing power density and reducing size, weight and cost.

We offer a wide range of safe power subsystems as well as components for land, naval, air and space applications. This includes the UK’s AJAX armoured fighting vehicle and Sentinel ISR aircraft, with the International Space Station also using Raytheon UK products.

We have a wide range of experience and expertise in the storage, control and management of power. As the demand for and cost of fossil fuels increases, our innovative approaches have included integrating alternative energy sources such as solar, fuel cells and advanced batteries into power management solutions.

Our presence in the UK includes Raytheon Professional Services, helping organisations improve business performance. We have developed Higher Formation Training in the Command and Staff Training (CAST) facilities of Warminster and Catterick – with each CAST site connected to the Ministry of Defence.

We also offer Advanced Battlespace Computer Simulation (ABACUS) training, a tool used to simulate conflicts in support of land force operations and training. This programme is used by armed forces around the world, including in the UK.

We are a thought and technology leader in the global optics industry, specialising in the design and manufacture of optical solutions that meet strict military and commercial specifications.
