Jenkins Engineering Defence Systems (JEDS)

Over the last three decades, Jenkins Engineering Defence Systems (JEDS) has worked towards being a leader in the support and marketing of defence electronic systems.
Founded by Managing Director Peter Jenkins in 1989, JEDS specialises in electronic warfare, radar and communications electronics.

JEDS are responsible for the manufacture of bespoke systems including the Low Band DF subsystem that forms part of the Hobart Class Guided Missile Destroyer and ANZAC Class Frigates Electronic Warfare Suite; the Collins Class Submarine Periscope Antenna Unit; remotely-operated sonobuoy launchers used on naval ranges; and the Compact Multi-Function Antenna used by the Royal Australian Navy and the Australian Army.

The company has a range of electronics intelligence analysis software tools and specialises in providing installation, commissioning and in-service support to EW and surveillance systems for Defence and border protection authorities.

“Through the mentoring provided by prime contractors over the years, including Raytheon Australia, we have grown to be a successful Small-Medium Enterprise (SME) and now have a very solid relationship with Raytheon Australia that encompasses other platforms in addition to Collins” Jenkins said.

“JEDS has registered with the Raytheon Technologies' Global Supply Chain initiative, and we have presented to them several of our products that we feel have good export potential,” he said.

JEDS achieves its objectives through partnerships with Australian, US and European suppliers; and actively pursues and promotes partnering with companies that complement their work in defence and related markets throughout the Australasian region.
