Math and Science Education

For students with potential to be future engineers who need encouragement and support, Raytheon drives interactive, hands-on education support programs that coach, fund, and engage students in math and science. Raytheon focuses on middle school education through a number of initiatives, most notably MathMovesU, Raytheon’s signature math program.

Raytheon supports MATHCOUNTS, FIRST Robotics and other math and science related organizations with sponsorships and volunteers. In a unique approach, Raytheon provides scholarships to FIRST Robotics participants. Each year our employees share their own passion for math, science and engineering by volunteering with math & science related organizations and local schools by mentoring, visiting classrooms, tutoring, inviting students to our sites, participating at math & science events, coaching and providing career opportunities to potential engineers.

Raytheon’s MathMovesU program is an innovative initiative designed to engage middle school students in math by illustrating the connection between math, their passions and interests and “cool” careers. The focal point of the program is the MathMovesU.com website, which is targeted at middle school students.

Raytheon encourages its employees and communities to get involved by spreading the word about MathMovesU.com, hosting live MathMovesU events and promoting the program through local schools. Since the inception of MathMovesU, Raytheon has touched more than 500,000 students, teachers and parents to date.

Armed Services

Raytheon has a culture of enormous respect for the armed service: A number of our employees are reservists on active duty and many others are veterans themselves as were generations of Raytheon people before them. We appreciate all that these men and women do everyday to protect our country.

The company supports a variety of initiatives aimed at supporting, recognizing and honoring our troops. Also, Raytheon employees give to the troops through The Fund in Support of Our Troops, which benefits eight organizations, covering all of the five armed forces.

Every year, Raytheon employees honor our servicemen and women by creating care packages, writing letters to the troops, welcoming our troops home, and supporting their families while they are on active duty. Additionally, Raytheon facilities across the country connect with local non-profits that support the Armed Forces and their families in our communities.

Local Community Support

Raytheon is dedicated to serving those communities where we live and work. Each year the company supports community organizations and local chapters of national non-profits. By staying involved with our local schools, local organizations and volunteering in the communities, Raytheon strives to give back to the communities of our employees.

In addition, Raytheon employees log tens of thousands of hours volunteering in their neighborhood communities. Raytheon uses VolunteerMatch to partner with more than 50,000 organizations.
