What SMART Training Can Do For You
In today’s quickly shifting healthcare environment, the act of balancing safe and accurate treatment with patient satisfaction provides a challenge for managing learning cost, access and quality. Raytheon Professional Services (RPS), in partnership with Baptist Health’s Institute for Patient Safety and Medical Simulation and Auburn University, presents a unique combination of medical simulation with Synergistic Medical and Resource Team (SMART) Training principles. Our approach, built on human factors research, mitigates human error and addresses the behavioral issues that have plagued healthcare for years.
SMART Training is a program that promotes patient safety through a multi-disciplined approach using web and classroom based training and medical simulation to advance teamwork. Simulation is used to enhance concept adoption and maximize practice change. This approach goes beyond the traditional adoption of Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles in healthcare and enables healthcare professionals to prevent, trap or mitigate threats to safety originating from human interaction and systemic error. The SMART Training program has been proven to enhance team communications, significantly reduced medical errors and improved patient safety and clinical outcomes.
