This week, Raytheon will showcase a broad array of innovative technologies at the 2010 Singapore Air Show (Feb. 2-7) at the Changi Exhibition Centre. Relaunched in an all new exhibition center in 2008 and drawing nearly 44,000 trade visitors, the event is now the largest air show in Asia. With a variety of themed conferences scheduled, Singapore is the meeting point of the world’s aerospace community as hundreds of companies meet government customers from around the globe.
Raytheon’s Presence in Asia
Raytheon has been active in Asia for decades, building strong partnerships with its government customers. It has offices in six countries in the region, including a major subsidiary company in Australia. At this year’s air show, Raytheon will be demonstrating a range of solutions across the civil and military domains. These include integrated air and missile defense systems; naval warfare systems; sensors; border and coastal security; and land combat systems. The company’s percentage of international business is much larger than that of industry peers, and Raytheon products are now at work in more than 80 countries.
Innovative Technologies
Raytheon is a world-leading innovator in advanced sensor and weapon technologies: its active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar is just one example of the range of capabilities the company offers that constantly expands the customer’s ability to manage, exploit and ultimately master both the electronic and the physical battlespace. The Republic of Singapore Air Force is one of the first air forces outside the U.S. to field such a system: the Raytheon APG-63(V)3, installed on its F-15SG fighter. Upgrading existing fighter fleets is an increasingly preferred option in an age of tight budgets: cutting-edge sensors including AESA radar and new-generation electronic warfare suites make this possible.
Says Walter Doran, president of Raytheon Asia, “This region is playing a growing role in international peacekeeping, counterpiracy and disaster relief operations. Countries here are looking for the right equipment, systems and training to make their forces effective. Raytheon is there to provide the mission assurance and support they demand.”
