One of Raytheon’s many successes with the landmark Warfighter Field Operations Customer Success (FOCUS) program in the last year has been its work with the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence.

The Raytheon-led Warrior Training Alliance team supports the Army’s mission at the intelligence center, which is located at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., to lead, train, equip and support the world’s premier corps of military intelligence professionals. Raytheon has expanded the team’s work with the intelligence community at Fort Huachuca by more than 600 positions since starting the Warfighter FOCUS contract one year ago.

Preparing for Real-World Situations
“We are helping the Army prepare intelligence experts for real-world situations such as Iraq and Afghanistan by ensuring they receive the best training support and development in the human, analytical, imagery, signal and geological domains,” said Mike Edwards, a Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC vice president and program manager for the Warrior Training Alliance (WTA). “We provide a total training solution for all aspects of U.S. Army and joint intelligence warfighting requirements.”

The team provides platform instruction and training support including writing doctrine, developing doctrinal changes and courseware preparation for all intelligence career fields, basic to advanced military intelligence skills.

Bulk of UAS Training Provided by WTA
The WTA also provides more than 90 percent of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) training at Fort Huachuca to include developing UAS programs of instruction and lesson plans.

Training includes:

  • Operator training on four different UAS platforms including the MQ-7B Shadow, the Hunter and Warrior A (Predator) and Sky Warrior (ERMP) UAS platforms
  • Maintenance training on four different UAS platforms
  • Reconnaissance and surveillance systems training
  • Warrant officer UAS course
  • UAS leaders course
  • UAS advanced leaders course

Raytheon also develops training films to support UAS operator training and provides FAA-approved visual flight rules and instrument flight rules UAS qualifications courses.

“Soldiers trained by Raytheon usually deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan within six months of course graduation,” Edwards said.

Warfighter FOCUS is a 10-year, indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity contract with the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation. The program integrates the Army’s three legacy training domains including live, virtual and constructive under one program to streamline and improve warfighter training.
