Raytheon was a key sponsor of the 7th Annual Responsive Space Conference (RS7) April 27 – 30 at the LAX Westin Hotel, Los Angeles, Calif.

RS7 is the foremost responsive space conference, providing a forum for military, civil, commercial and educational communities to introduce and explore emerging technologies that can be rapidly deployed to meet urgent space needs.

Bill Hart, vice president of Raytheon’s Space Systems group, hosted this year’s keynote luncheon and screened Raytheon’s inspiring video “Connections,” which highlights the many ways technology in space impacts life on earth.

The luncheon’s keynote speaker was Lt. Gen. Kevin Campbell, commander of the Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command.

Raytheon’s new Responder™ payload design concept was exhibited at the conference. Responder combines a common payload framework with a suite of interchangeable, mission-specific sensors and standardized interconnects to allow for rapid design, manufacturing and spacecraft integration of space payloads.

Raytheon’s ARTEMIS payload is scheduled for launch May 7 aboard the Air Force Research Laboratory’s TacSat-3 spacecraft. ARTEMIS is the primary sensor for TacSat-3, intended to demonstrate the ability to deliver processed information to the warfighter on the ground within 10 minutes of data collection. Built in 15 months and designed for easy repeatability, ARTEMIS serves as the template for Raytheon’s electro-optical class of Responder payloads.
