Displayed at this year’s National Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colo., is one of Raytheon’s most important space programs and integrated ground control technologies: the Global Positioning System Next Generation Operational Ground Control Segment (GPS OCX).

GPS OCX significantly enhances overall GPS capability and management of Block I, II, and future Block GPS III satellites for improved accuracy, timing and navigation. The OCX solution provides warfighters with enhanced situational analysis, anti-jamming theatre operations and improved battlefield advantage. As an asset to National Security, both DoD military and civil communities also receive direct benefits from the system.

“The Air Force is applying a ‘back-to-basic’ approach for the program by separating the ground and space contracts to ensure the most qualified contractors support this nationally critical program,” said Bob Canty, GPS OCX vice president and general manager. “With the successful SDR and MCEM demonstrations, Raytheon is the clear choice to deliver a quality product under budget and on time.”

To successfully develop the Next Generation GPS OCX control system, Raytheon has engaged closely with The United States Air Force Space and Missile Command (SMC) customer for more than two years. With various technical expertise in key GPS domain knowledge and more than 40 years of experience in integrated ground control systems, Raytheon has developed a low-risk, affordable and flexible solution to meet and exceed the needs of the U.S. Air Force.
