Dave Erickson, Raytheon Company’s chief architect of the National Data Exchange, or N-DEx, program, will demonstrate the system at the Government Security and Law Enforcement Expo and Conference (GovSec) March 12, 2009, at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The conference, which also features former FBI Director Louis Freeh as the keynote speaker, will give Raytheon and the FBI the chance to showcase how N-DEx is helping law enforcement agents uncover critical investigative data.
Raytheon Helps FBI with Information-Sharing Capabilities
Raytheon is helping the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division put powerful, yet simple-to-use information-sharing capabilities in the hands of law enforcement agents nationwide. The company is working with the FBI to develop and deploy N-DEx, which enables federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies across the country to share actionable information to help fight and prevent crime and enhance public safety.
“N-DEx highlights the ability of the FBI, Raytheon and the law enforcement community to work together to improve criminal investigations nationwide,” stated Kevin Reid, FBI program manager, on the partnership in developing the system.

As the prime contractor and systems integrator, Raytheon’s support for N-DEx includes the design, development, engineering and implementation of the N-DEx system, as well as user support, operations and maintenance. When complete, the system will enable up to 200,000 investigators in 18,000 federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies to collect and share incident and investigative information. Users are estimated to make about 6 million queries a day through the system — sharing investigative information across disparate systems and jurisdiction boundaries and into the hands of those who need to know.
Raytheon's FBI Information Sharing Program Showcased in Evidence Technology Magazine
Erickson discusses the development of the N-DEx system in the latest issue of Evidence Technology, a national technical publication for the crime-scene investigation units of law-enforcement agencies. "We developed a robust system that a lot of people are really excited about," said Erickson, in the Evidence Technology article.
