At the Australian International Air Show, Raytheon Technical Services Company (RTSC) is discussing the F-16 center pedestal display, a product that was created to replace primary flight instruments on the center pedestal of Block 5 through Block 50 F-16 aircraft.

The new F-16 center pedestal display provides a large surface for displaying primary flight information as well as moving maps, sensor video, digital message traffic, PDFs and growth for additional functionality.

The critical aspect is RTSC’s ability to modify the center display system without affecting the platform operational flight program (OFP). This results in a significantly quicker deployment and allows for future upgrades.

The design approach involves the removal and replacement of the primary flight instruments with processors, without cutting the physical pedestal structure itself, and using adapters to facilitate the use of the existing wiring.

After a successful evaluation by the Air National Guard, RTSC is now awaiting a solicitation for finalization of the qualification and to start production for upgrade of the Air National Guard Block 30 fleet.
