MILCOM 2008 closes with record-breaking results
MILCOM 2008 wrapped up yesterday after breaking several records in the conference’s 27-year history. Most notably, this year’s event claims the highest attendance record ever. More than 7,000 professionals, from 43 countries, descended upon the San Diego Convention Center for the three-day conference.
In addition, more technical papers were presented this year than in any other year, with a total of 695 papers. And more than 60,000 square feet of space was sold to the 300 companies exhibiting at the conference.
The first-ever MILCOM Small Business Workshop, hosted by Raytheon, was a success. 100 small businesses had the chance to meet with the major military communications companies to discuss collaboration opportunities.
Conference guests attended numerous presentations, panel discussions and special events. They heard from industry experts, such the Honorable Michael McConnell and the Honorable John Grimes, and were given the chance to tour the USS Midway and to attend the Chairman’s Gala.
MILCOM 2008 was a landmark event for industry host Raytheon.
