The United States and our Allies are realizing the impressive capabilities of Raytheon’s Rapid Aerostat Initial Deployment (RAID) system.
RAID is a combat proven technology with a distinguished service record in support of both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Since its initial deployment to Afghanistan in 2003, RAID has evolved significantly from elevated stand-alone sensors to integrated/netted sensors supporting precision targeting.
Saving lives with low-cost persistent surveillance, this multifunction battlefield system increases situational awareness, provides force protection and serves as a force multiplier, allowing forces to focus on mission objectives.
As terrorism continues to expand into other countries, RAID has tremendous application for Homeland Security (non-related to Defense) as well. Many countries are seeing the need for this state-of-the-art, elevated and persistent surveillance capability for internal domestic security and support to deployed forces.
Raytheon’s deep experience in both aerostat and tower-mounted systems significantly reduces customer risk, which is especially important when soldiers' lives are at stake. With several thousand hours of operation in hostile territory, the RAID system maintained an operational readiness in excess of 97 percent.
Raytheon provides reliable, total lifecycle Mission Support for all of its RAID systems, anywhere in the world. It also offers its customers Mission Assurance, so they will have complete confidence that all RAID systems will work as promised, every time.
