Raytheon Company was awarded one of three study contracts for the initial concept development and program planning for the Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) Block IIB, which is the Missile Defense Agency’s next generation Aegis missile.
Raytheon products are vital to the timely implementation of the president’s Phased Adaptive Approach (PAA) for missile defense in Europe. SM-3 is the cornerstone of the plan. Spiral development of the SM-3 family of missiles saves the taxpayer millions of dollars. The most affordable, lowest risk path to a PAA Phase 4 interceptor is to continue to evolve SM-3.
