Raytheon’s SM-3 Block IA successfully completed its 19th intercept during a flight test at the Pacific Missile Range Facility, in Kauai, Hawaii. Demonstrating two distinct capabilities, the SM-3 Block IA proved it can engage an intermediate-range ballistic missile target when launched on remote.
The continued evolution of the SM-3’s capabilities increases the defense of the U.S. and its allies by bringing innovative missile defense solutions to the U.S. Navy’s forward-deployed Aegis ships.
The company’s proven SM-3 is the cornerstone of the administration’s Phased Adaptive Approach (PAA) for Europe, and Raytheon’s cutting-edge radars and satellites complete the package.
With Phase I of the PAA complete, Raytheon continues to progress toward meeting Phase II of the timeline. Raytheon’s SM-3 Block IB, designed to meet Phase II of the PAA, will undergo its first test this summer.
