RAYTHEON'S UAV TECHNOLOGIES FEATURED IN AVIATION WEEK SHOW DAILY

The June 18, 2007, edition of the Aviation Week Show Daily highlights two innovative Raytheon technologies related to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The first article, “Raytheon ‘cockpit’ is built around needs of UAV operators,” discusses the innovative approach Raytheon is using the Universal Control System (UCS) to meet the needs of UAV operators. With its wraparound display, the UCS enables operators to control multiple UAVs simultaneously with a degree of situational awareness exceeding that of some manned aircraft — increasing safety and reducing potential accidents. In addition, UCS leverages the best video-gaming technologies and user interfaces to decrease training time and cost.

The second article, “Raytheon DCGS Handles UAV Data,” highlights the easy-to-use intelligence website searching capability provided by version 10.2 of the Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS), a major component of the Global Information Grid (GIG). DCGS gives military users a Google-like intelligence website searching ability that is revolutionizing the way data from Global Hawk, Predator and U-2 platforms are handled. Raytheon and its partners are installing the system at locations around the world to enable increased collaboration and information sharing across organizations. According to the article, this is a key to solving a problem mentioned in the 9/11 Report: that government agencies were unable to share information effectively.
