Raytheon’s Dave Carter was recently named the IFEA/Zambelli Fireworks International Volunteer of the Year for 2007. The International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) is the premiere association enabling and supporting festival and event professionals worldwide.
Carter is the director of marketing at Raytheon Airline Aviation Services, a small group of about 30 employees who still work out of the company’s Wichita, Kan., office. Carter was honored at the 52nd Annual IFEA Convention & Expo in Atlanta, Sept. 17-21, 2007.
Work at Wichita Festivals Cited IFEA awarded the distinction to Carter based on his dedication as a volunteer for Wichita Festivals, Inc. His 25 years of involvement have spanned everything from coordinating antique bathtub races and organizing corporate challenges, to serving on the board of directors, to chairing the Wichita Flight Festival.
Carter has acted as media spokesperson, sponsorship solicitor, government liaison, marketing strategist and promotional director for the organization. He has also lent his vocational expertise in the field of aviation. But perhaps the greatest impact Carter has made at Wichita Festivals is as a leader and role model for others. His interest in the events that Wichita Festivals produces, along with the people he works with, is always foremost in his mind.
