Firsthand demonstration of VIRTSIM lives up to the hype
Raytheon Network Centric Systems hosted law enforcement agencies at our Plano, Texas facility where they experienced VIRTSIM™ — a 3D virtual immersion, training solution for law enforcers.
More than 200 law enforcement officers from the Dallas-Fort Worth area participated in the VIRTSIM demonstration. Agencies represented 21 different federal, state, and local law enforcement groups, including the FBI SWAT, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Marshals Service, Texas Rangers and the Dallas Police Department SWAT.
Officers trained in a 360-degree virtual environment, immersed in realistic scenarios while interacting with live people or computer-generated individuals. Officers participated in incident rehearsals that ranged from clearing and securing commercial airliner to engaging virtual hostile subjects in a variety of environments. Following the simulated exercises, officers could monitor their progress thanks to the 84 cameras that filmed the action.
Following the demonstration, VIRTSIM was moved to Fort Benning, Ga. where it will attend the Army Expeditionary Warfighting Experiment (AEWE), a rigorous nine-month exercise where soldiers test new and exciting technologies.
