Raytheon Company was honored with the Corporate Courage Award presented by the Mayor of Boston at the annual We Are Boston Gala Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Boston's Corporate Courage Award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to promoting the city's diversity and to fostering the integration of New Bostonians in all aspects of local life.

In presenting the award to Raytheon Chairman and CEO William H. Swanson, Mayor Thomas J. Menino acknowledged the company’s consistent commitment to creating opportunities for Boston’s diverse communities so that they may be successful.

Swanson accepted the award on behalf of the entire Raytheon team, stating that “Diversity is the strength of Boston, and it is a strength of Raytheon.” He noted that Raytheon believes diversity is a foundation for innovation. "When we value and respect each other and leverage our differences, experiences and backgrounds, we are at our best in providing the innovative and affordable systems and solutions our customers depend on.”
