Raytheon Chairman and CEO William H. Swanson joined Cornell President David J. Skorton in authoring an opinion piece on reforming Pell Grants. The article entitled "Cut Costs — Not Access — to Save Pell Grants" is posted on the USATODAY website.

The op-ed sets out a fiscally responsible approach to curtail the program’s budget shortfall that will help ensure access to a college education for motivated and qualified students. Both Skorton and Swanson believe this is a critical public policy priority since the United States needs to continue developing its future workforce to maintain the country’s competitive edge, and ultimately, its national security.
