Sixteen Raytheon employees volunteered in support of Summerfest, an outdoor festival for wounded warriors and their families held Saturday, July 16, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

The event was sponsored by Operation Homefront, which provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of America’s men and women in uniform and wounded warriors.

Raytheon volunteers literally had their hands full scooping ice cream, serving meals, and officiating at festival contests and activities. Guests also had the opportunity to learn more about Raytheon’s MathMovesU® program and the company’s full portfolio of community and education initiatives.

"Raytheon's support of the last SummerFest at Walter Reed was truly a gift to the wounded warriors and their families,” said Vivian S. Dietrich, president of Operation Homefront – DC Metro.

“You could see the relaxation on the faces of the warriors and especially their children who enjoyed all the fun activities. Raytheon's volunteers were energetic and did whatever was necessary to ensure the event was a success. We look forward to partnering with Raytheon in the future to serve more military families living in our community."

Raytheon was presented with a certificate of recognition for its support of the event.
