Raytheon was honored this month by the Museum of Science, Boston at its annual “Science Behind the Stars” event that celebrated luminaries of today who inspire the leaders of tomorrow.
Raytheon, the museum’s longest-standing corporate member, was presented a “Stars of STEM” award in recognition of the company’s leadership in helping the museum and other institutions encourage and educate the next generation of scientists and engineers.
“I accept this award on behalf of Raytheon and my 72,000 teammates,” said Raytheon Chairman and CEO William H. Swanson. “Raytheon has long been a strong supporter of science, technology, engineering and math education. We all need to inspire today’s students to develop and sustain an interest in math and science, so they will be excited and prepared to pursue STEM careers.”
Raytheon believes that to inspire students, we need to engage them on their own terms by making math and science exciting and experiential. Raytheon’s multitiered MathMovesU® program features support of engaging, interactive learning programs to get students involved in math and science. These programs include the Sum of all Thrills™ experience, The Hall at Patriot Place™ presented by Raytheon, and MATHCOUNTS®, as well as Raytheon’s MathMovesU interactive website, scholarships, and other activities — all to inspire today’s students to become tomorrow’s engineers and scientists.
