U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is a critical asset in the ICE mission, responsible for investigating a wide range of domestic and international activities arising from the illegal movement of people and goods into, within and out of the United States. In addition to ICE criminal investigations, HSI oversees the agency's international affairs operations and intelligence functions. To accomplish its mission, HSI relies on more than 10,000 employees, including 6,700 special agents, who are assigned to more than 200 cities throughout the U.S. and 47 countries around the world.
When the agency needed to modernize its legacy case management system — the key instrument that agents use for criminal and civil enforcement — ICE selected Raytheon. The modernized, Web-enabled investigative case management system will enhance ICE agents' ability to investigate, manage, report and collaborate on law enforcement and national security efforts.
Bringing New Features and functionalities
The modernized investigative case management system will deliver new capabilities to ICE agents anywhere in the world, and leverage innovative technologies and communications channels such as mobile devices and tablets. The system will offer the essential features required to support ICE's mission, including core case management, intelligent reporting, subject records and workflow tracking. The updated ICE investigative case management system will also be designed to interface with more than 100 disparate databases from across DHS and other government agencies for improved information sharing, inter-agency collaboration and federated search.
ICE HSI: Targeting Cross-Border Crime
HSI investigates immigration crime, human rights violations and human smuggling, smuggling of narcotics, weapons and other types of contraband, financial crimes, cybercrime and export enforcement issues. ICE special agents conduct investigations aimed at protecting critical infrastructure industries that are vulnerable to sabotage, attack or exploitation.
