Raytheon has been named to FORTUNE's 2011 North American Top Companies for Leaders list for the second consecutive year. Raytheon ranked 18 on this year's list, an improvement from 2009 when Raytheon ranked 25.

"Receiving this great recognition underscores our commitment to developing a strong leadership pipeline to ensure the success of our company and our customers," said Raytheon Chairman and CEO William H. Swanson.

More than 470 organizations were surveyed and analyzed by Aon Hewitt, in partnership with the RBL Group and FORTUNE magazine. An expert panel of judges selected and ranked winners based on criteria including strength and depth of leadership practices, culture, business performance and company reputation.

"Raytheon uses a defined workforce planning process to identify capable talent for key roles across the enterprise to meet organizational needs and marketplace demands," said Keith J. Peden, Raytheon senior vice president of Global Human Resources and Security. "Our leadership programs accelerate the development of this talent through applied and experiential learning."

Raytheon was recognized for its ongoing commitment to the development of talent and its focus on leadership development.

The FORTUNE recognition reinforces Raytheon's efforts in all aspects of leadership development, including learning, workforce planning, succession planning, performance development, compensation, diversity, coaching and mentoring.
