The grand hall of the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., was filled with nearly 14,000 children, parents, educators and others Feb. 19 for Discover Engineering Family Day, a fun-filled event where the MathMovesU® (MMU) portfolio of programs and activities was showcased.
Raytheon joined 30 other corporations, associations and organizations for the event, which encouraged children to “be an engineer for a day!” Among those with activity booths were Harris Corp., IBM, NASA, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, FAMILY Magazine, National Science Foundation, and the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.
Raytheon volunteers spoke to eager children and parents, discussing the company’s efforts to “inspire the next generation of U.S. innovators.” They also shared information on the MMU online interactive learning site, scholarships, grants and giving, Sum of all Thrills™ at INNOVENTIONS at Epcot® at the Walt Disney World® Resort, MATHCOUNTS® and other sponsored programs.
Children were also able to try the MMU gaming site through a laptop at the booth, and they received branded giveaways.
