Raytheon's sustainability initiatives have been recognized by two leading publications. Both Computerworld and Newsweek have honored the company's efforts to deliver tangible cost savings through energy conservation, recycling, waste elimination and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

Computerworld Ranks Raytheon a Top 10 Green IT Organization
Raytheon's information technology function ranked 10th in Computerworld's Top Green IT Organizations study for 2011, as the company was recognized for innovative practices yielding measurable results. Raytheon's Green IT program was covered in a Computerworld feature published Oct. 24.
Raytheon's program reflects a focus on reducing energy consumption throughout the company. Since 2008, more than 3,000 IT servers have been virtualized or decommissioned, resulting in $23 million in annual savings and the elimination of more than 2.1 megawatts of electricity consumption so far this year. Raytheon has also enhanced telecommunications capabilities, enabling reductions in business travel and realizing new efficiencies in commuting practices.
"This recognition is important," said Raytheon Vice President and Chief Information Officer Rebecca R. Rhoads. "It validates our commitment to IT operational efficiencies that enable business growth. Ours is a culture that values sustainability in everything we do."
Raytheon Recognized in Newsweek's "Green Rankings"
Newsweek noted Raytheon's strong overall performance in its annual "Green Rankings" for the second consecutive year. Teaming with two external research organizations, the publication evaluated Raytheon and ranked it 6th in the U.S. and 13th in the world in the capital goods industry sector. Newsweek's environmental rankings are based on criteria that compares actual environmental footprint, environmental management (including policies, programs and initiatives) and reporting practices.
