Raytheon Missile Systems (RMS) and Network Centric Systems (NCS) both received Cogswell Awards at a recent ceremony in New Orleans.

The Cogswell Award, which recognizes companies for outstanding performance and practices in carrying out security measures, is the most prestigious honor bestowed by the Defense Security Service on the cleared industry. Fewer than four percent of the more than 13,000 companies eligible receive the award.

Dan Schlehr, director, Global Security Services noted, “I was so proud to hear that two of our Raytheon facilities — Louisville, Kentucky, and Marlborough, Massachusetts — were awarded the prestigious Cogswell Award this year. This is the highest honor the Defense Security Service gives for facilities that have gone above and beyond basic security requirements, becoming role models for effective security programs. Congratulations again to the employees at our Louisville and Marlborough facilities for a job well done.”

The Cogswell Award was established in 1966 in honor of the late Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, first chief of the unified office of industrial security. It represents the need for a true partnership between industry and government to ensure the protection of classified information, materials and programs.
