On Tuesday, March 29, a large Raytheon delegation, including key leaders, attended the 24th annual Catalyst Awards dinner. The dinner is the signature event for the Catalyst organization and its many supporters to recognize corporate initiatives that support women in business. Raytheon, with over 30 attendees at the gala, was one of the more than 200 U.S. and global companies to attend this year's event, held at New York City's historic Waldorf Astoria hotel.
Raytheon, a long time member of the organization, sent a cross-company group of women leaders to attend the event. In addition, Raytheon Chairman and CEO Bill Swanson, an associate chair of Catalyst, was in attendance. Raytheon has been a supporter of the awards dinner since 1999.
Catalyst is a leading research and advisory organization working with businesses to build inclusive environments and expand opportunities for women at work. Catalyst awards are presented annually to companies and firms establishing outstanding initiatives that result in women's career development and advancement. This year's awards were presented to Kaiser Permanente, McDonald’s Corporation and Time Warner Inc. Read more about the winners.
Ilene Land, president and CEO of Catalyst, addressed the crowd during her keynote speech with a powerful message, she said “If you see unequal treatment, say something, then do something and then be part of the solution to help close the gap on gender bias.”
Prior to the event, Raytheon hosted a reception for the company’s attendees. Swanson welcomed the employees, noting "We have been a strong supporter of Catalyst because it reflects the importance Raytheon places on inclusiveness. But we know there is more to do. So we are counting on you to help us move forward on our journey." On the following day, Raytheon attendees participated in a working session with Dan Burrus, keynote speaker, business strategist and technology futurist, and a senior female panel discussion with Rebecca Rhoads, Vice President of Information Technology and CIO, and Pam Wickham, Vice President of Corporate Affairs & Communications.
