In its winter 2008/2009 issue, IEEE Women in Engineering magazine named Raytheon one of the top ten “Best Companies for Women to Work.” The annual list is determined by a panel of national experts in workforce diversity, as well as engineering and science leaders.

More than 150 organizations were considered this year. Other top ten finalists included General Electric, Google and Walt Disney.

The article singled out the Raytheon Women’s Network (RWN), calling it a valuable networking tool. To that end, Judy Durkin, Northeast RWN president and Raytheon’s vice president of Financial Planning & Analysis, was interviewed for the piece. Among other benefits, Durkin discussed the group’s goal of helping women achieve their full career potential through networking and professional development workshops.

“One of Raytheon’s goals is to leverage diversity efforts as a competitive advantage,” explained Durkin in the article.
