Raytheon’s support for the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) was recognized at NABA’s 38th National Conference, held recently in New Orleans. Larry Harrington, vice president of Raytheon Internal Audit and member of Raytheon’s Executive Diversity Leadership Team, was honored with the Raytheon Internal Audit team for supporting, developing and growing NABA while helping the African American community. At a ceremony attended by representatives of NABA’s Western Region chapters, Harrington and Raytheon were lauded for their dedication, support and corporate partnership activities during 2008 and 2009.
At the conference, Harrington presented a continuing professional education-accredited workshop entitled “Selecting and Retaining Great People.” Focusing on effective mentoring programs, career development through succession planning and creating a preferred place to work, Harrington stressed that an inclusive culture and mindset are critical to acquiring and retaining top talent.
Harrington and Yosief Ghirmai, West Region Director of Internal Audit, participate in and promote NABA and its programs, which mentor accounting professionals and students interested in accounting careers. NABA, headquartered in Greenbelt, Md., has chapters nationwide and represents the interests of more than 100,000 African-American and minorities. The organization furthers educational, professional, and career goals of members in the fields of accounting, auditing, consulting, finance, information technology and tax.
