Each year the National Engineers Week Foundation asks its members to nominate colleagues 30 years old and younger for consideration as one of the New Faces of Engineering. This year, two young Raytheon engineers were among those tapped. Gigi Lau from Space and Airborne Systems and Stacey Markus from Network Centric Systems were recognized for their exceptional work at Raytheon, as well as their outstanding abilities and leadership.

Gigi Lau – Space and Airborne Systems
Nominated by IEEE-USA
As a senior multi-disciplined engineer, Lau supports both the F-15 and F-18 programs for the Raytheon Radar Integration and Test Team in the Radar Environmental Simulations Laboratory. Since 2004 she has participated in the hardware and software design and integration of numerous large-scale projects. Lau is also well-versed in multiple Enterprise Management System earned value techniques.

In addition to her technical skills, Lau’s management skills at Raytheon have made her an effective Principal Integrated Product Team lead. Lau, who is based in El Segundo, Calif., regularly participates in the IEEE and SWE technical societies, as well as the UCLA Engineering Alumni Association.

Lau earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2004, and a master’s degree in systems architecture and engineering from the University of Southern California in 2007.

Stacey Markus – Network Centric Systems
Nominated by the Society of Women Engineers
Markus is an engineer based in Fort Wayne, Ind. Working for NCS' Integrated Communications Systems product line, Markus has designed, analyzed, tested and troubleshot power supplies on numerous programs. Today, she's learning more of the business through a functional rotation program, currently working in finance.

Markus is an officer in the Raytheon Young Employees Success Network (YESnet) and treasurer of the Society of Women Engineers Northwest Indiana Section. She earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and is a master’s degree candidate in business administration at the Indiana University.
