Raytheon is pleased to deliver the latest edition of Defender®, Volume 5, Issue 1, featuring Missile Defense: Protecting Against Global Threats. This issue highlights missile defense and examines the increased international cooperation between the U.S. and its allies to build a united defense against an array of new threats.
In an interview with Rear Adm. Tomohisa Takei, director general of operations and plans for the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, he speaks to Defender about his nation’s sea-based ballistic missile defense capabilities and the Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) cooperative development program between the U.S. and Japan.
The magazine also includes conversations with retired Lt. Gen. Henry “Trey” Obering III, former director of the Missile Defense Agency, on the ominous and growing threat presented by ballistic missiles, and Rear Adm. Joseph A. Horn Jr., deputy director of the Missile Defense Agency, on the use of SM-2 and SM-3 for sea-based defense.
In a special feature, the focus is on Patriot and its legacy as the world’s most combat-proven air and missile defense system.
