Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) is now operating at a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI®) Maturity Level 5 rating.
“This is a signature accomplishment, achieved through interdependent execution across our Engineering, Operations, Integrated Supply Chain Quality and integrated business teams. The breadth of people, processes and programs in this appraisal gives testament to our disciplined processes across our enterprise; solidifying our commitments to our customers,” said Dan Smith, IDS president.
The CMMI model measures business process maturity levels and provides our customers with a way to assess risks and determine the level of process maturity a company has achieved. It helps them predict performance, and CMMI maturity level ratings are often a prerequisite or a discriminator for companies bidding on defense contracts.
This recent assessment also signifies the largest-scope appraisal in Raytheon’s history. While primarily focused on our systems, software and hardware engineering processes, the appraisal team spent four weeks at IDS reviewing more than 14,000 documents and interviewing nearly 200 engineers, project leaders and program managers across our IDS cross business teams and integrated business teams.
Congratulations again to all who participated in our successful CMMI Level 5 appraisal. The arduous three-year process leading up to the Standard CMMI Appraisal Method of Process Improvement (SCAMPISM) demonstrates our commitment to continuous process improvements.
