Fox Business News’s Money
for Breakfast show honored Raytheon Chairman and CEO William H. Swanson as the “big winner” on their daily “Winners and Sinners” segment. Swanson was chosen for Raytheon’s part in enabling a live broadcast of this past Sunday’s Super Bowl via the Raytheon-developed Global Broadcast Service (GBS). He was selected over General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
The GBS military satellite communications system provides high-speed, multimedia broadcasts of mission-critical information to military and government decision makers. On Super Bowl Sunday, in coordination with the U.S. Navy and the American Forces Radio and Television Service, GBS broadcast Super Bowl XLII to sailors and Marines on Navy ships in the Pacific.
“We are thrilled that our technology has enabled us to bring our deployed men and women a little closer to home through this broadcast,” said Alan Goldey, Raytheon GBS program manager. “Raytheon has developed and sustained the GBS program into what the Air Force has declared to be one of its best managed military satellite communications programs.”
