Raytheon welcomed thousands of interested visitors to its booth during the recent DoDIIS Worldwide Conference in San Diego. Held March 16–20, the event was sponsored by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
The theme of Raytheon’s booth was “Securely Integrating Across DoD Enterprises.” As such, the company’s Intelligence and Information Systems business demonstrated several of its key integration technologies. Notable guests to the space included Lt. Gen. Michael Maples, director of the DIA; Maj. Gen. John Custer; U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.); and Grant Schneider, deputy director and CIO of the DIA.
DUKE Draws a Crowd Of major interest was Raytheon’s DUKE (Direct-access User Knowledge Environment), a system that provides analysts with integrated analytical, geospatial and knowledge management tools. DUKE speeds the time that analysts spend looking for information of interest and providing actionable intelligence.
In addition, DUKE provides secure access to all source intelligence data, associating it via geospatial and relational means to enable knowledge discovery and collaboration. DUKE tools take advantage of leading-edge technologies and increase analyst productivity and interoperability within the existing intelligence infrastructure.
More Attention-Grabbing Demos There was also significant interest in Raytheon's ability to integrate and share data across the DCGS and DoDIIS environments using the DIB (Distributed Common Ground System Integration Backbone). DIB is a common set of enterprise services and standards that serve as the foundation for the interoperability of the DCGS enterprise. Other Raytheon demonstrations included:
- MAJIIC (Multi-sensor Aerospace-Ground Joint Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Interoperability Coalition) — A multinational effort that provides connectivity between U.S. and coalition forces to maximize surveillance and reconnaissance resources.
- InnerView — Raytheon Oakley Systems’ information assurance technology solution that helps government agencies monitor and investigate insider incidents.
- Rackable Systems ICE Cube Modular Data Center — A self-contained, fully portable data center featuring extreme server and storage density with highly efficient cooling and easy serviceability. The ICE Cube is a partnership among Rackable, Raytheon and Intel.
Davis Discusses Information Assurance Raytheon was also represented at DoDIIS by Ken Davis, vice president of Technology at Raytheon Oakley Systems. Davis took center stage to deliver an important presentation about information assurance. Raytheon Oakley sets the insider threat protection standard across the federal government, providing the highest levels of endpoint monitoring and focused observation across America’s most critical classified networks.
