Raytheon’s Intelligence and Information Systems (IIS) business was recently featured in a Washington Business Journal article titled, "Raytheon Looking for Cyber-Workers.” The article focused on our need to hire new talent for our growing information security business.

After the recent acquisition of three companies, IIS' Information Security Solutions (ISS) product line is looking for help to the tune of 250 new employees by the end of 2009. Raytheon ISS is in the business of protecting vital information and information systems for commercial and government customers.

The ISS product line is specifically looking for engineers, or “cyber athletes.” They are looking for engineers who exercise their dexterity and hand-eye coordination through the tackling of complex problems to fight the digital cyber war.

These new cyber athletes will work on a variety of projects related to software protection, security auditing, vulnerability research and malicious mobile code. Because of the highly technical nature of this work, a strong background in low-level programming and operating systems is essential, as is previous experience with application security, reverse engineering or malware.

The jobs are a range of engineering positions available from junior to senior levels. The majority of the positions are in various locations in Washington D.C. and other major locations across the country. This hiring push will support two IIS strategic priorities. The first is to provide new capabilities in Information Operations/Information Assurance and the second is to transform our workforce by strategically staffing for growth.

The increased jobs cuts nationally have pushed corporations to be vigilant about protecting their data and networks against disgruntled or dismissed employees. Raytheon has developed software to help detect and prevent these insider incidents, such as enterprise IP theft, data loss and other threats, as well as conduct deep forensic investigations into known violations and incidents.
