Raytheon’s commitment to the communities in which we live, work and learn is reflected in the company’s long history of charitable giving and community service.

In 2008, Raytheon made a difference for many people from all walks of life with grants totaling more than $10 million* given to non-profit organizations that exemplify the company’s philanthropic focus, including:

  • MATHCOUNTS (National Sponsorship for the 2008-2009 school year)
  • The Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation
  • Special Olympics
  • Walk for Hunger
  • Raytheon’s endowed Citadel scholarship fund to support scholarships for women and minorities in engineering and science

In May 2008, Raytheon was also recognized by the American Red Cross with the distinguished George C. Marshall award for the company’s ongoing commitment to the agency’s annual disaster giving program, including monetary support and three state-of-the-art satellite communication vehicles.

Engaging and Educating Tomorrow’s Leaders

Some of the highlights of our commitment to education through Matching Gifts for Education and Scholarships:

  • Over $2.6 million donated to academic institutions through the Matching Gifts for Education program
  • Over 500 scholarships and grants given out through the Raytheon Scholars, FIRST Scholarship and MathMovesU program

Special Events for Special Causes

Employees and the company together supported a number of diverse activities and programs that impacted the lives of many in a myriad of ways, from local neighbors in need and soldiers on faraway battlefields, to inspirational athletes and critical care patients. This year, efforts included the Walk for Hunger, FunFest, the Lone Star Ride, Heart Walk, Special Olympics, AnySoldier.com®, Operation Homelink™ and the Toys for Tots collection drive.

Through our collective participation in these events and others like them throughout the company, many are helped, and many more see first-hand what a difference they can make in the lives of others.
