For only the second time in its 20-year history, CIO magazine held an induction ceremony for its exclusive Hall of Fame. Raytheon Vice President and CIO Rebecca Rhoads joined 19 other CIOs in this honor. The CIO Magazine Hall of Fame was created in 1997 to spotlight IT professionals who have provided significant contributions to and have had a profound influence on the IT discipline. The Hall also showcases those individuals who have demonstrated leadership and advanced the role of CIO.

The Hall of Fame now has a total of 32 members. The first 12 were inducted in 1997 when the Hall was inaugurated, and another 20 members were inducted to commemorate the magazine’s 20th anniversary this year. The latest honorees, inducted at a gala awards ceremony in Coronado, California, were characterized as pioneers who have broken new ground in the way technology is used in business.

"This is a tremendous honor for me personally and it’s one that I happily share with Raytheon’s leadership and IT teams," said Rhoads. "The magazine’s choice underscores the success of our collective mission, led by Chairman and CEO William H. Swanson, to embed Raytheon’s commitment to technology and innovation throughout the enterprise."

Separately, Rhoads was also one of five 2007 finalists for the Mass Technology Leadership Council’s CIO of the Year award. With less than a decade in the CIO role, she was surprised and delighted with the nomination, which was based on her body of work since becoming Raytheon CIO in 2001.
