RAYTHEON ACQUIRES OAKLEY NETWORKS

Date posted: 10/23/2007*

Raytheon Company announced Tuesday, Oct. 23, that it has acquired Oakley Networks, a privately held technology company based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and a recognized leader in cybersecurity technology and data leakage prevention systems.

The purchase of Oakley strengthens Raytheon's capabilities in information security solutions for mission-critical systems relied upon by defense, intelligence, civil and commercial customers.

Raytheon will operate the company as a new, wholly owned subsidiary under the new name of Raytheon Oakley Systems, Inc., within Raytheon’s Intelligence and Information Systems (IIS) business. This new entity will offer a unique set of products and services that build on Raytheon’s software systems expertise and leverage Oakley’s broad enterprise monitoring solutions, which feature highly visual investigation and forensics tools to protect against a full range of cyber threats.

"The purchase of Oakley Networks is an important step toward achieving our strategy to grow by strengthening our solutions in current markets and by entering new adjacent markets where we can establish a leadership position," said said Michael D. Keebaugh, president of Raytheon IIS. "Oakley’s capabilities are complementary to our portfolio; they will enable us to bring new services to our legacy government customers and build upon Raytheon's four decades of experience protecting government information."
