On Thursday, Nov. 8, Raytheon was recognized by the Department of Labor with the Secretary of Labor’s Opportunity Award, presented at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
This annual award recognizes exemplary and innovative workplace diversity efforts by federal contractors. It is the highest honor a company can receive from the Department of Labor for efforts to ensure workplace equity and equal employment opportunities. To receive this award, companies must demonstrate, through programs or activities, their commitment to and measurable results in enhancing workplace opportunities for employees of all identities, dimensions, differences and similarities.
"I am honored to accept this most prestigious award on behalf of the Raytheon team," said William H. Swanson, Raytheon's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "I am very proud of the members of the Raytheon team who showed tremendous leadership and dedication to this effort. Receiving this award will encourage us to set our sights even higher as we strive to do even better."
Swanson was joined by Tanya Lewis, Raytheon’s director of Compliance Management, in receiving the award from U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao. After accepting the award, Swanson said, "We want to be the best – and we want to do the best for our customers. To achieve that, we must have the best team. And talented people want to work in a welcoming, safe environment that values the full range of diversity."
Raytheon has been a key leader in the federal contractor community in implementing new regulations, such as the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs’ new Internet Applicant definition. The company has also successfully integrated equal employment opportunity compliance into key Raytheon processes such as talent acquisition, compensation, diversity, talent management and learning.
