My top three innovative teaching methods: 1) Make it Real – No Fake Math. Although, we have to teach skills and mathematics as a symbolic language full of short-cuts to reasoning and problem solving, every lesson must have a real-world authentic problem to validate and give meaning to learning. 2) Use technology – Create the WOW factor. Students want to play with and use technology tools. I love to give them a turn and the opportunity to improve their skills and talents. 3) Share what you know. We don’t live in a vacuum, and we must learn to work with others. Explaining, showing, drawing and diagramming are all ways students and teachers can work together in a classroom. Many call it collaboration. I call it fun!”
