I absolutely love working with Middle School aged children. They still care about school and are not yet to the point where they think they can do everything on their own! It is very rewarding to know that when they walk into your room in August, they will have probably never been shown how to solve an equation, or to calculate the area or volume of a complex figure, and that you can teach them how to do something that they have never before seen and watch them become successful…
I want to be able to show these students that math is not just solving problems using pencil and paper, dry erase markets, textbooks and accelerated math; but that math is everywhere! I want them to be able to apply what we do in the classroom to their everyday lives. I want them to see that no matter where we choose to look in this world, we can find math.”
