TEAM RAYTHEON RESPONDS TO HURRICANE RITA

The Raytheon team across the Gulf Coast region had prepared for the arrival of Hurricane Rita. Today, while the company is continuing to contact all employees in the affected areas, initial reports indicate that our local business units sustained only minor damage. Businesses located within the affected areas are providing information and guidance on site operations directly to their employees.

Well before Rita struck, Raytheon sites along the projected path were closed, including activities in threatened areas of Texas and Louisiana. Rita’s turn to the east spared Houston — and our activities there — the brunt of the storm. Personnel normally stationed in operations in Louisiana near where the storm came ashore also were sent home well before landfall to prepare. The hurricane did not seriously affect our Florida locations when it entered the Gulf near the Keys.

Throughout the weekend, Raytheon employees in the region worked hard to ensure the safety of our employees and the security of our sites. Their efforts demonstrated a high level of professionalism and collaboration in preparation and response to the storm. In the weeks ahead, these same teams will be working closely to assist our affected employees, customers and communities.

Difficult as this hurricane season has been, the outpouring of support from the people of Raytheon has been truly heartening. Raytheon and its employees have given or pledged more than $2 million for Katrina-related disaster relief — in corporate grants, employee giving, corporate matching contributions and grants from the Raytheon Employee Disaster Relief Fund.
