Turkish Navy selects Raytheon-led team to support modernization of combat management system

PORTSMOUTH, R.I., (May 13, 2002)-A team led by Raytheon Company's Naval & Maritime Integrated Systems (N&MIS) business unit has been selected by the Turkish Navy to support the Turkish Navy G-Class Frigate Modernization Program (TN G-GCMP) for six G-Class (Ex-U.S. Navy FFG-7) frigates. Worth $17 million, the competitively bid contract may be expanded to include an additional two FFG-7 frigates expected to be transferred to Turkey from the U.S. Navy during 2002.

"We are committed to the success of the TN G-GCMP," said Daniel L. Smith, vice president and general manager of N&MIS, "and are very pleased to be working with the Turkish Navy to enhance its capabilities - now and in the future."

Under the contract, the Raytheon team will provide integration and weapon systems support to complete the development of the Turkish Navy's GENESIS Combat Management System, which will be developed by the Turkish Navy Research and Development Command. When complete, the upgrade will enable the GENESIS System to interface with all sensors and weapon systems aboard the G-class Frigates.

"We are very excited about this opportunity to work closely with the Turkish Navy's GENESIS Team and look forward to a strong and productive partnership with Turkey," said Upinder S. Dhinsa, managing director of the Global Ships Electronics Integration unit of N&MIS, which will be responsible for the execution of the contract.

In addition to the Turkish Navy customer, Raytheon is partnered with the Naval Surface Warfare Center and Northrop Grumman PRB Associates, Inc. The upgrades will be performed at multiple sites in the United States and Turkey.

N&MIS is a premier supplier of Integrated Naval Systems worldwide with operations in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, California, Hawaii and Washington in the U.S., as well as in Australia.
