Is there an app for that?

Raytheon demonstrates new capabilities to deliver fast, mobile technology

Smartphones and mobile technology are rapidly changing the world and the way people access information. To help meet the demands, Raytheon is embracing and leveraging mobile technology on a variety of fronts to bring critical, actionable information to users in the field.

Appsmart Delivers

Raytheon has developed an online app platform—Appsmart™—to deliver technical capabilities to customers on mobile devices and tablets, granting them access to intelligence, weather or situational awareness information when and where they need it.

Through the Appsmart platform, customers can disseminate various applications to any number of individuals, Through the Appsmart platform, customers can disseminate various applications to any number of individuals, manage app usage and downloads, integrate app development and ensure security.

Mark Bigham“The Appsmart market isn’t just an apps store,“ said Mark Bigham, vice president of Business Development for Defense and Civil Mission Solutions at Raytheon Intelligence and Information Systems. “It’s a marketplace that connects app developers to customers, helping them manage license agreements, to get capabilities into the hands of tactical-edge users quickly and securely.“

Taking Information to the Edge

In addition, Raytheon is developing a range of mobile technology apps that are capable of taking large volumes of complex environmental and space data and delivering intelligence information to users’ via cell phones, tablets and other technology platforms.

One of those capabilities, Raytheon Advanced Tactical System (RATS™), delivers multimedia directly to the field. RATS breaks down barriers to information sharing and enables users to quickly access intelligence data anywhere, at any time through a wireless platform. Warfighters and responders alike can adapt to available networks, receive interactive tactical communication and easily collaborate with users through chat, voice, full-motion video, imagery, map overlays and a variety of other communication tools.

Another is the LEAF (Layered Environmental Analysis and Forecasting) app. LEAF is a collection of environmental and base data layers from an array of weather sensors and satellites that delivers advanced functionality to forecasters in the field—equipping them with the information they need to predict weather and issue time-sensitive warnings.

Additionally, Raytheon has developed apps to monitor live surveillance, helping warfighters gain an advantage through improved situational awareness. Warfighters can use the technology to track the location of allies and adversaries on maps in real time.

Raytheon realizes the value of having information readily available, which is why we are bringing information and intelligence to the tactical edge through mobile technology.
