Rapid and Secure Transfer of Complex Geospatial Data
The term "big data" is not something new to the GEOINT community - collecting, analyzing, and transferring complex data is routine. In today's climate, that data comes from a multitude of different sources and is comprised of numerous data types spanning all different classification levels. As seen in recent world events, data can come from unclassified sources such as YouTube and news media in addition to US and Coalition satellite monitoring. How do you move that data from source to destination(s) quickly and securely? The GEOINT community is challenged with this requirement to manage a wide array of data and be able to make it available to the right people at the right time.
Raytheon Trusted Computer Solutions (RTCS) is no stranger to managing the secure and rapid flow of information between classification levels. With High Speed Guard (HSG), RTCS provides an accredited solution to move any type of data.
High Speed Guard has been enabling big data transfer throughout the Intelligence Community for the last 15 years in support of large-scale programs. HSG contains highly-flexible plain text rule sets and filters that provide the ability to validate nearly limitless types of structured data. The rule language combined with the high performance inherent in HSG allows customers to consolidate multiple data flows onto fewer physical systems. HSG offers cross domain industry leading performance in multiple categories:
- Big Data transfers: Up to 9 Gigabits/second (Gb/s) sustained throughput (10Gb infrastructure required); 97TB/day (4TB/hour, 9Gb/s)
- Small message transfers: Up to 1.8Gb/sec
- Application Level Messaging: Latencies as low as 10ms to 0.4ms
- UDP Messaging: Up to 96,000 messages/sec
- JMS Messaging: Up to 4,000 messages/sec with XML validation
- High Definition (HD) Video: Over 50 simultaneous streams on 1Gb/sec network
- Web Services: Up to 500 service calls per second
Letitia Long, National Geospatial Agency Director, promotes her vision of providing on-demand access to GEOINT. High Speed Guard helps NGA transition from a product producer to a content and services provider by securely transferring data where and when it is needed. HSG's proven ability to facilitate rapid movement of many different types of data, from many sources to many destinations, across multiple security domains meets Long's goals of fostering information sharing across and within the community.
