Tweeting is the ticket for behind-the-scenes access to the Farnborough International Airshow for a select group of people who follow Raytheon on the social networking site Twitter.
They will join the company at the show on Friday, July 13, and you're invited to follow along!
Participants will get unobstructed views of the flying demonstrations at our chalet on the flight line. Raytheon is also treating them to full day of other activities.
Many of the participants are from London and wider England and Wales, but some are traveling from farther afield: Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States.
Their day at Farnborough begins with interactive technology demonstrations. Participants will get to experience Raytheon's 4D Simulator, the Aviation Warrior wearable computer, simulated training technology called VIRTSIM , and air traffic control training.
Participants will also get up close to planes on display in the U.S. military's aircraft "corral." The C-17A, C-130J, MV-22B, F/A-18F and F-15E will be on display.
Friday is "Futures Day" at the airshow and will feature themed trails through the show's exhibit halls. Tweetup attendees will be able to explore the space, aircraft, heritage, spy, or career trails.
Participants will also have prime seats as champion student rocketeers from France, the United Kingdom and the United States compete for the global championship in the annual International Rocketry Challenge.
Raytheon, a lead sponsor of the competition, is underwriting the participation of the Madison West High School team from Madison, Wisconsin.
The school won the Team America Rocketry Challenge finals in Virginia on May 12. It bested 99 teams for the chance to represent the United States in the international competition.
