Raytheon was recently recognized as the U.S. Army’s 200th partner in the Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program. Secretary of the Army Francis Harvey signed the formal agreement with Keith Peden, Raytheon’s senior vice president for Human Resources.
“Raytheon is honored to work with the Army to transition talent from the military to industry,” said Peden. “This program will help provide Raytheon with qualified professionals while providing opportunity to those who deserve it most — our military.”
PaYS is a unique program designed to assist our warfighters in securing their future civilian success once their Army service is complete. At the same time, PaYS provides our nation’s employers with a pool of highly-skilled, motivated, and responsible candidates from which they may fill their personnel needs.
Founded in 2000, the PaYS program provides an opportunity for America’s youth to serve their country while preparing for their future. During their enlistment in the U.S. Army, participating soldiers learn the technical skills required by industry and government agencies, in addition to critical life skills such as work ethics, teamwork, communication and leadership. After completing their active duty tour or Initial Entry Training for the Army Reserve, participants interview and complete the application process with the company or government agency selected during the recruiting process.
The PaYS program is beneficial to soldiers, employers and the U.S. Army. Participants gain leadership experience, valuable technical skills and enhanced opportunities for employment after serving their country. PaYS partner companies gain employees who have developed professional work habits and have been held to the highest standards of conduct while in the military. Finally, the Army benefits by gaining valuable industry partners who acknowledge the Army as a quality producer of skilled employees.
Raytheon was one of several companies that responded to the invitation to join the PaYS partnership. These PaYS partners number 127 corporations, including 34 Fortune 500, three Fortune 1000, and four Global 500 companies, along with 73 public sector agencies. These PaYS partners offer a combined 600,000 PaYS positions to recruits.
To date, more than 47,900 active and reserve soldiers have enlisted with the PaYS program as part of their enlistment incentives.
