Raytheon received the prestigious George C. Marshall Award from the American Red Cross at the organization’s Heritage of Service Dinner on May 14. The Heritage of Service Dinner is a celebration to recognize the outstanding dedication and commitment from individuals, organizations, partners and corporations who enable the Red Cross to achieve its noble mission each year.
“Raytheon has been a consistent leader in supporting Red Cross disaster relief efforts through the Annual Disaster Giving Program,” said Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, chairman of the Red Cross. “They are truly a unique and valued partner that has pledged donations on an ongoing basis, in advance of major disasters, to help the Red Cross immediately respond and help people affected by disasters of all sizes.”
Raytheon is being recognized for its commitment to the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program. Since 2001, Raytheon has given $6.7 million to national headquarters and $310,000 to the Massachusetts Bay Chapter in addition to donating three state-of-the-art satellite communication vehicles.
Many Dignitaries in Attendance
The donor recognition event brought together members of Congress, military leaders, Washington dignitaries, corporate representatives, and Red Cross partners and volunteers. Retired Gen. Richard B. Myers (U.S. Air Force) and his wife Mary Jo Myers served as the event’s emcees. President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush served as Honorary Co-Chairs for the dinner.
